Remove the complicated mechanism that could be (in theory) used by
external libraries to register new categories and modules with
statically defined lists in <isc/log.h>. This is similar to what we
have done for <isc/result.h> result codes. All the libraries are now
internal to BIND 9, so we don't need to provide a mechanism to register
extra categories and modules.
Since the enable_fips_mode() now resides inside the isc_tls unit, BIND 9
would fail to compile when FIPS mode was enabled as the DST subsystem
logging functions were missing.
Move the crypto library logging functions from the openssl_link unit to
isc_tls unit and enhance it, so it can now be used from both places
keeping the old dst__openssl_toresult* macros alive.
The OpenSSL 1.x Engines support has been deprecated in the OpenSSL 3.x
and is going to be removed. Remove the OpenSSL Engine support in favor
of OpenSSL Providers.
This provides more detail about which instance of specific OpenSSL
calls that have failed by reporting the file name and line numbers
involved when dst__openssl_toresult2 and dst__openssl_toresult3 are
called.
Rename and simplify dst__openssl_compare_keypair() to
dst__openssl_keypair_compare(), and introduce two additional functions
dst__openssl_keypair_isprivate and dst__openssl_keypair_destroy.
Use those to de-duplicated openssl{rsa,ecdsa}_isprivate, and
openssl{rsa,ecdsa}_destroy.
Instead of trying to optimize by using a stack local variable
with additional #ifdef logic, use identical implementations of
the upstream functions to reduce #ifdef clutter.
Move the definitions from dst_openssl.h to openssl_shim.h where
rest of the shim is.
BIND unconditionally uses shims for BN_GENCB_new(), BN_GENCB_free(),
and BN_GENCB_get_arg() for all LibreSSL versions and, correctly, for
OpenSSL <1.1.0 versions.
This breaks LibreSSL compilation starting with LibreSSL 3.5.0.
Use autoconf check instead to check whether the family of the functions
are available.
This commit converts the license handling to adhere to the REUSE
specification. It specifically:
1. Adds used licnses to LICENSES/ directory
2. Add "isc" template for adding the copyright boilerplate
3. Changes all source files to include copyright and SPDX license
header, this includes all the C sources, documentation, zone files,
configuration files. There are notes in the doc/dev/copyrights file
on how to add correct headers to the new files.
4. Handle the rest that can't be modified via .reuse/dep5 file. The
binary (or otherwise unmodifiable) files could have license places
next to them in <foo>.license file, but this would lead to cluttered
repository and most of the files handled in the .reuse/dep5 file are
system test files.
Unify the header guard style and replace the inconsistent include guards
with #pragma once.
The #pragma once is widely and very well supported in all compilers that
BIND 9 supports, and #pragma once was already in use in several new or
refactored headers.
Using simpler method will also allow us to automate header guard checks
as this is simpler to programatically check.
