Neither the 1.3 or 1.4 standards say this number is 1's based, but adding 1
costs little and copes with those NVMe drives that report '0' in this field
cheaply. This is consistent with what the Linux driver does as well.
This fixes the following panic on powerpc:

on PCx2129 chips too.
The datasheet for the PCx2129 chips says that there is only a watchdog
timer, no countdown timer. It turns out the countdown timer hardware is
there and works just the same as it does on a PCx2127 chip, except that you
can't use it to trigger an interrupt or toggle an output pin. We don't need
interrupts or output pins, we only need to read the timer register to get
sub-second resolution. So start treating the 2129 chips the same as 2127.
An obscure footnote in the datasheets for the PCx2127, PCx2129, and
PCF8523 rtc chips states that the chips do not support i2c repeat-start
operations. When the driver was originally written and tested, the i2c
bus on that system also didn't support repeat-start and just quietly
turned repeat-start operations into a stop-then-start, making it appear
that the nxprtc driver was working properly.
The repeat-start situation only comes up on reads, so instead of using
the standard iicdev_readfrom(), use a local nxprtc_readfrom(), which is
just a cut-and-pasted copy of iicdev_readfrom(), modified to send two
separate start-data-stop sequences instead of using repeat-start.
The driver used to log any non-zero cause and when running with a single
line interrupt it would spam the console/logs with reports of interrupts
that are of no interest to anyone.

When a command is finished running, we must transition it from INQUEUE
to busy state. We were failing to do that, so we hit a panic when the
commands were freed. This only affects mpr, mps already did simmilar
things. Now both the polling and interrupt paths properly set BUSY as
appropriate.
This device cannot cross a 4GB boundary with DMA. Removing the
boundary in r346386 resulted in low frequency memory corruption on
machines with isci(4) controllers.

r348164 added code to iicbus_request_bus/iicbus_release_bus to automatically
call device_busy()/device_unbusy() as part of aquiring exclusive use of the
bus (so modules can't be unloaded while the bus is exclusively owned and/or
IO is in progress). That broke the ability to do i2c IO from a slave device
probe method, because the slave isn't attached yet, so calling device_busy()
triggers a sanity-check panic for trying to busy a non-attached device.
Now we check whether the device status is < DS_ATTACHING, and if so we busy
the iicbus rather than the slave device. I think this leaves a small window
where a module could be unloaded while probing is in progress. But I think
that's true of all devices, and probably should be fixed by introducing a
DS_PROBING state for devices, and handling that at various points in the
newbus code.
Eliminate the TIMEDOUT state. This state really conveyed two different
concepts: I timed out during recovery (and my command got put on the
recovery queue), and I timed out diring discovery (which doesn't).
Separate those two concepts into two flags. Use the TIMEDOUT flag to
fail requests as timed out. Use the on queue flag to remove them from
the queue.
In mps_intr_locked for MPI2_RPY_DESCRIPT_FLAGS_ADDRESS_REPLY message
type, when completing commands, ignore the ones that are not in state
INQUEUE. They were already completed as part of the recovery
process. When we complete them twice, we wind up with entries on the
free queue that are marked as busy, trigging asserts.

The hold_count and wire_count fields of struct vm_page are separate
reference counters with similar semantics. The remaining essential
differences are that holds are not counted as a reference with respect
to LRU, and holds have an implicit free-on-last unhold semantic whereas
vm_page_unwire() callers must explicitly determine whether to free the
page once the last reference to the page is released.
This change removes the KPIs which directly manipulate hold_count.
Functions such as vm_fault_quick_hold_pages() now return wired pages
instead. Since r328977 the overhead of maintaining LRU for wired pages
is lower, and in many cases vm_fault_quick_hold_pages() callers would
swap holds for wirings on the returned pages anyway, so with this change
we remove a number of page lock acquisitions.
No functional change is intended. __FreeBSD_version is bumped.

Unconditionally program the MSI-X vector control Mask field for MSI-X
table entries without regarud for Mask's previous value. Some devices
return all zeros on reads of the VCTRL registers, which would cause us
to skip disabling interrupts. This fixes the Samsung SM961/PM961 SSDs
which are return zero starting from offset 0x3084 within the memory
region specified by BAR0, even when they are active MSI-X vectors.
The Illumos kernel writes these unconditionally to 0 or 1. However,
section 6.8.2.9 of the PCI Local Bus 3.0 spec (dated Feb 3, 2004)
states for bits 31::01:
After reset, the state of these bits must be 0. However, for
potential future use, software must preserve the value of
these reserved bits when modifying the value of other Vector
Control bits. If software modifies the value of these reserved
bits, the result is undefined."
so we always set or clear the Mask bit, but otherwise preserves the
old value.

Previously the TOE code used its own custom unmapped mbufs via
EXT_FLAG_VENDOR1. The old version always wired the entire AIO request
buffer first for the duration of the AIO operation and constructed
multiple mbufs which used the wired buffer as an external buffer.
The new version determines how much room is available in the socket
buffer and only wires the pages needed for the available room building
chains of M_NOMAP mbufs. This means that a large AIO write will now
limit the amount of wired memory it uses to the size of the socket
buffer.

The goal of this driver is consolidate information about SuperIO chips
and to provide for peaceful coexistence of drivers that need to access
SuperIO configuration registers.
While SuperIO chips can host various functions most of them are
discoverable and accessible without any knowledge of the SuperIO.
Examples are: keyboard and mouse controllers, UARTs, floppy disk
controllers. SuperIO-s also provide non-standard functions such as
GPIO, watchdog timers and hardware monitoring. Such functions do
require drivers with a knowledge of a specific SuperIO.
At this time the driver supports a number of ITE and Nuvoton (fka
Winbond) SuperIO chips.
There is a single driver for all devices. So, I have not done the usual
split between the hardware driver and the bus functionality. Although,
superio does act as a bus for devices that represent known non-standard
functions of a SuperIO chip. The bus provides enumeration of child
devices based on the hardcoded knowledge of such functions. The
knowledge as extracted from datasheets and other drivers.
As there is a single driver, I have not defined a kobj interface for it.
So, its interface is currently made of simple functions.
I think that we can the flexibility (and complications) when we actually
need it.
I am planning to convert nctgpio and wbwd to superio bus very soon.
Also, I am working on itwd driver (watchdog in ITE SuperIO-s).
Additionally, there is ithwm driver based on the reverted sensors
import, but I am not sure how to integrate it given that we still lack
any sensors interface.

That is, instead of the current GPIO00 - GPIO15 the names will be GPIO00
- GPIO07, GPIO10 - GPIO17. The first digit is a GPIO "bank" / group
number and the second one is a pin number within the bank. Alternative
view is that the pin names are changed from decimal numbering scheme to
octal one (as there are 8 pins per bank).

Since cxgbe(4) uses sglist instead of bus_dma, this required updates

Previously, the aiotx task relied on the aio jobs in the queue to hold
a reference on the socket. However, when the last job is completed,
there is nothing left to hold a reference to the socket buffer lock
used to check if the queue is empty. In addition, if the last job on
the queue is cancelled, the task can run with no queued jobs holding a
reference to the socket buffer lock the task uses to notice the queue
is empty.
Fix these races by holding an explicit reference on the socket when
the task is queued and dropping that reference when the task
completes.

"pin_list" allows to specify child pins as a list of pin numbers.
Existing hint "pins" serves the same purpose but with a 32-bit wide bit
mask. One problem with that is that a controller can have more than 32
pins. One example is amdgpio. Also, a list of numbers is a little bit
more human friendly than a matching bit mask. As a side note, it seems
that in FDT pins are typically specified by their numbers as well.
This commit also adds accessors for instance variables (IVARs) that
define the child pins. My primary goal is to allow a child to be
configured programmatically rather than via hints (assuming that FDT is
not supported on a platform). Also, while a child should not care about
specific pin numbers that are allocated to it, it could be interested in
how many were actually assigned to it.
While there, I removed "flags" instance variable. It was unused.

"fdt" is removed from the driver module name as the driver does not
require FDT and can work very well on hints based systems.
A module dependency is added for gpiobus. Without that owc cannot
resolve symbols in gpiobus if both are loaded as kernel modules.

NANDFS has been broken for years. Remove it. The NAND drivers that
remain are for ancient parts that are no longer relevant. They are
polled, have terrible performance and just for ancient arm
hardware. NAND parts have evolved significantly from this early work
and little to none of it would be relevant should someone need to
update to support raw nand. This code has been off by default for
years and has violated the vnode protocol leading to panics since it
was committed.
Numerous posts to arch@ and other locations have found no actual users
for this software.

Since SES specs do not define mechanism to map enclosure slots to SATA
disks, AHCI EM code I written many years ago appeared quite useless,
that always bugged me. I was thinking whether it was a good idea, but
if LSI HBAs do that, why I shouldn't?
This change introduces simple non-standard mechanism for the mapping
into both AHCI EM and SES code, that makes AHCI EM on capable controllers
(most of Intel's) a first-class SES citizen, allowing it to report disk
physical path to GEOM, show devices inserted into each enclosure slot in
`sesutil map` and `getencstat`, control locate and fault LEDs for specific
devices with `sesutil locate adaX on` and `sesutil fault adaX on`, etc.
I've successfully tested this on Supermicro X10DRH-i motherboard connected
with sideband cable of its S-SATA Mini-SAS connector to SAS815TQ backplane.
It can indicate with LEDs Locate, Fault and Rebuild/Remap SES statuses for
each disk identical to real SES of Supermicro SAS2 backplanes.

Until r349278, bhyve presented a seg_max to the guest that was too large.
Detect this case and clamp it to the virtqueue size. Otherwise, we would
fail the "too many segments to enqueue" assertion in virtqueue_enqueue().
I hit this by running a guest with a MAXPHYS of 256 KB.

Previously nandsim_chip_status returned EINVAL iff both of user-provided
chip->ctrl_num and chip->num were out of bounds. If only one failed the
bounds check arbitrary memory would be read and returned.
The NAND framework is not built by default, nandsim is not intended for
production use (it is a simulator), and the nandsim device has root-only
permissions.

Add experimental feature to increase concurrency in Fortuna. As this
diverges slightly from canonical Fortuna, and due to the security
sensitivity of random(4), it is off by default. To enable it, set the
tunable kern.random.fortuna.concurrent_read="1". The rest of this commit
message describes the behavior when enabled.
Readers continue to update shared Fortuna state under global mutex, as they
do in the status quo implementation of the algorithm, but shift the actual
PRF generation out from under the global lock. This massively reduces the
CPU time readers spend holding the global lock, allowing for increased
concurrency on SMP systems and less bullying of the harvestq kthread.
It is somewhat of a deviation from FS&K. I think the primary difference is
that the specific sequence of AES keys will differ if READ_RANDOM_UIO is
accessed concurrently (as the 2nd thread to take the mutex will no longer
receive a key derived from rekeying the first thread). However, I believe
the goals of rekeying AES are maintained: trivially, we continue to rekey
every 1MB for the statistical property; and each consumer gets a
forward-secret, independent AES key for their PRF.
Since Chacha doesn't need to rekey for sequences of any length, this change
makes no difference to the sequence of Chacha keys and PRF generated when
Chacha is used in place of AES.
On a GENERIC 4-thread VM (so, INVARIANTS/WITNESS, numbers not necessarily
representative), 3x concurrent AES performance jumped from ~55 MiB/s per
thread to ~197 MB/s per thread. Concurrent Chacha20 at 3 threads went from
roughly ~113 MB/s per thread to ~430 MB/s per thread.
Prior to this change, the system was extremely unresponsive with 3-4
concurrent random readers; each thread had high variance in latency and
throughput, depending on who got lucky and won the lock. "rand_harvestq"
thread CPU use was high (double digits), seemingly due to spinning on the
global lock.
After the change, concurrent random readers and the system in general are
much more responsive, and rand_harvestq CPU use dropped to basically zero.
Tests are added to the devrandom suite to ensure the uint128_add64 primitive
utilized by unlocked read functions to specification.

names. I.e., everything related to pwm now goes in /dev/pwm. This will
make it easier for userland tools to turn an unqualified name into a fully
qualified pathname, whether it's the base pwmcX.Y name or a label name.
At a basic level, remove assumptions about the underlying algorithm (such as
output block size and reseeding requirements) from the algorithm-independent
logic in randomdev.c. Chacha20 does not have many of the restrictions that
AES-ICM does as a PRF (Pseudo-Random Function), because it has a cipher
block size of 512 bits. The motivation is that by generalizing the API,
Chacha is not penalized by the limitations of AES.
In READ_RANDOM_UIO, first attempt to NOWAIT allocate a large enough buffer
for the entire user request, or the maximal input we'll accept between
signal checking, whichever is smaller. The idea is that the implementation
of any randomdev algorithm is then free to divide up large requests in
whatever fashion it sees fit.
As part of this, two responsibilities from the "algorithm-generic" randomdev
code are pushed down into the Fortuna ra_read implementation (and any other
future or out-of-tree ra_read implementations):
1. If an algorithm needs to rekey every N bytes, it is responsible for
handling that in ra_read(). (I.e., Fortuna's 1MB rekey interval for AES
block generation.)
2. If an algorithm uses a block cipher that doesn't tolerate partial-block
requests (again, e.g., AES), it is also responsible for handling that in
ra_read().
Several APIs are changed from u_int buffer length to the more canonical
size_t. Several APIs are changed from taking a blockcount to a bytecount,
to permit PRFs like Chacha20 to directly generate quantities of output that
are not multiples of RANDOM_BLOCKSIZE (AES block size).
The Fortuna algorithm is changed to NOT rekey every 1MiB when in Chacha20
mode (kern.random.use_chacha20_cipher="1"). This is explicitly supported by
the math in FS&K §9.4 (Ferguson, Schneier, and Kohno; "Cryptography
Engineering"), as well as by their conclusion: "If we had a block cipher
with a 256-bit [or greater] block size, then the collisions would not
have been an issue at all."
For now, continue to break up reads into PAGE_SIZE chunks, as they were
before. So, no functional change, mostly.

Add some basic regression tests to verify behavior of both uint128
implementations at typical boundary conditions, to run on all architectures.
Test uint128 increment behavior of Chacha in keystream mode, as used by
'kern.random.use_chacha20_cipher=1' (r344913) to verify assumptions at edge
cases. These assumptions are critical to the safety of using Chacha as a
PRF in Fortuna (as implemented).
(Chacha's use in arc4random is safe regardless of these tests, as it is
limited to far less than 4 billion blocks of output in that API.)

Previously, there was a pwmc instance for each instance of pwm hardware
regardless of how many pwm channels that hardware supported. Now there
will be a pwmc instance for each channel when the hardware supports
multiple channels. With a separate instance for each channel, we can have
"named channels" in userland by making devfs alias entries in /dev/pwm.
These changes add support for ivars to pwmbus, and use an ivar to track the
channel number for each child. It also adds support for hinted children.
In pwmc, the driver checks for a label hint, and if present, it's used to
create an alias for the cdev in /dev/pwm. It's not anticipated that hints
will be heavily used, but it's easy to do and allows quick ad-hoc creation
of named channels from userland by using kenv to create hint.pwmc.N.label=
hints. Upcoming changes will add FDT support, and most labels will
probably be specified that way.
is nothing left in the file that related to pwmbus at all. It just contains
prototypes for the functions implemented in dev/pwm.ofw_pwm.c, so name it
accordingly and fix the include protect wrappers to match.
A new pwmbus.h will be coming along in a future commit.
The pwm and pwmbus interfaces were nearly identical, this merges them into a
single pwmbus interface. The pwmbus driver now implements the pwmbus
interface by simply passing all calls through to its parent (the hardware
driver). The channel_count method moves from pwm to pwmbus, and the
get_bus method is deleted (just no longer needed).
The net effect is that the interface for doing pwm stuff is now the same
regardless of whether you're a child of pwmbus, or some random driver
elsewhere in the hierarchy that is bypassing the pwmbus layer and is talking
directly to the hardware driver via cross-hierarchy connections established
using fdt data.
The pwmc driver is now a child of pwmbus, instead of being its sibling
(that's why the get_bus method is no longer needed; pwmc now gets the
device_t of the bus using device_get_parent()).
ioctl definitions and related datatypes that allow userland control of pwm
hardware via the pwmc device. The new name and location better reflects its
assocation with a single device driver.
part of ciss_detach. It's a left-over debug that isn't needed and also
discloses a kernel address. Only root could provoke as part of a
devctl or kldunload.

backoff, the performance of most IPMI operations is significantly
improved:
- A BMC update on a Supermicro x9 or x11 motherboard goes from ~1 hour
to ~6-8 minutes.
- An ipmitool sensor list time improves by a factor of 4.
Testing showed no significant improvements on a modern server by using
a lower delay.
The changes should also generally reduce the total amount of CPU or
I/O bandwidth used for a given IPMI operation.

Enable synaptics and elantech touchpads, as well as IBM/Lenovo TrackPoints
by default, instead of having users find and toggle a loader tunable.
This makes things like two finger scroll and other modern features work out
of the box with X. By enabling these settings by default, we get a better
desktop experience in X, since xserver and evdev can make use of the more
advanced synaptics and elantech features.

Add a CAM-Newbus SDIO support module. This works provides a newbus
infrastructure for device drivers wanting to use SDIO. On the lower end
while it is connected by newbus to SDHCI, it talks CAM using the MMCCAM
framework to get to it.
This also duplicates the usbdevs framework to equally create sdiodev
header files with #defines for "vendors" and "products".

Currently slot_printf() uses two printf() calls to print the
device-slot name, and actual message. When other printf()s are
ongoing in parallel this can lead to interleaved message on the console,
which is especially unhelpful for debugging or error messages.
Take a hit on the stack and vsnprintf() the message to the buffer.
This way it can be printed along with the device-slot name in one go
avoiding console gibberish.

Add cam_sim_alloc_dev() as a wrapper to cam_sim_alloc() which takes
a device_t instead of the unit_number (which we can derive from the
dev again).
Add device_t sim_dev to struct cam_sim. It will be used to pass through
the bus for cases when both sides of CAM speak newbus already and we want
to link them (yet make the calls through CAM for now).
SDIO will be the first consumer of this. For that make use of
cam_sim_alloc_dev() in sdhci under MMCCAM.
This will also allow people to start iterating more on the idea
to newbus-ify CAM without changing 50+ device drivers from the start.
Also to be clear there are callers to cam_sim_alloc() which do not
have a device_t (e.g., XPT) or provide their own unit number so we cannot
simply switch the KPI entirely.

These calls are not the same in general: the former will dequeue the
page if it is enqueued, while the latter will just leave it alone. But,

Prior to this commit, if PCIEM_SLOT_STA_ABP and PCIEM_SLOT_STA_PDC are
asserted simultaneously, FreeBSD sets a 5 second "hardware going away" timer
and then processes the "presence detect" change. In the (physically
challenging) case that someone presses the "attention button" and inserts
a new PCIe device at exactly the same moment, this results in FreeBSD
recognizing that the device is present, attaching it, and then detaching it
5 seconds later.
On EC2 "bare metal" hardware this is the precise sequence of events which
takes place when a new EBS volume is attached; virtual machines have no
difficulty effecting physically implausible simultaneity.
This patch changes the handling of PCIEM_SLOT_STA_ABP to only detach a
device if the presence of a device was detected *before* the interrupt
which reports the Attention Button push.

Register MODULE_PNP_INFO for virtio devices using the newbus PNP information
provided by the previous commit. Matching can be quite simple; existing
probe routines only matched on bus (implicit) and device_type. The same
matching criteria are retained exactly, but is now also available to
devmatch(8).

Expose the same fields and widths from both vtio buses, even though they
don't quite line up; several virtio drivers can attach to both buses,
and sharing a PNP info table for both seems more convenient.
In practice, I doubt any virtio driver really needs to match on anything
other than bus and device_type (eliminating the unused entries for
vtmmio), and also in practice device_type is << 2^16 (so far, values
range from 1 to 20). So it might be fine to only expose a 16-bit
device_type for PNP purposes. On the other hand, I don't see much harm
in overkill here.

random(4) masks unregistered entropy sources. Prior to this revision,
virtio_random(4) did not correctly register a random_source and did not
function as a source of entropy.
Random source registration for loadable pure sources requires registering a
poll callback, which is invoked periodically by random(4)'s harvestq
kthread. The periodic poll makes virtio_random(4)'s periodic entropy
collection redundant, so this revision removes the callout.
The current random source API is somewhat limiting, so simply fail to attach
any virtio_random devices if one is already registered as a source. This
scenario is expected to be uncommon.
While here, handle the possibility of short reads from the hypervisor random
device gracefully / correctly. It is not clear why a hypervisor would
return a short read or if it is allowed by spec, but we may as well handle
it.

This change enables natural scrolling with two finger scroll enabled
and when user is using a trackpad (mouse and trackpoint are not affected).
Depending on trackpad model it can be activated with setting of
hw.psm.synaptics.natural_scroll or hw.psm.elantech.natural_scroll sysctl
values to 1.
Evdev protocol is not affected by this change too. Tune userland client
e.g. libinput to enable natural scrolling in that case.

Calculate rx credits on the spot instead of tracking sbused/sb_cc and
rx_credits in the toepcb. The previous method worked when the high
water mark changed due to SB_AUTOSIZE but not when it was adjusted
directly (for example, by the soreserve in nfsrvd_addsock).
This fixes a connection hang while running iozone over an NFS mounted
share where nfsd's TCP sockets are being handled by t4_tom.

I introduced an obvious compiler error in r346282, so this change fixes
that.
Unfortunately, RANDOM_LOADABLE isn't covered by our existing tinderbox, and
it seems like there were existing latent linking problems. I believe these
were introduced on accident in r338324 during reduction of the boolean
expression(s) adjacent to randomdev.c and hash.c. It seems the
RANDOM_LOADABLE build breakage has gone unnoticed for nine months.
This change correctly annotates randomdev.c and hash.c with !random_loadable
to match the pre-r338324 logic; and additionally updates the HWRNG drivers
in MD 'files.*', which depend on random_device symbols, with
!random_loadable (it is invalid for the kernel to depend on symbols from a
module).
(The expression for both randomdev.c and hash.c was the same, prior to
r338324: "optional random random_yarrow | random !random_yarrow
!random_loadable". I.e., "random && (yarrow || !loadable)." When Yarrow
was removed ("yarrow := False"), the expression was incorrectly reduced to
"optional random" when it should have retained "random && !loadable".)
Additionally, I discovered that virtio_random was missing a MODULE_DEPEND on
random_device, which breaks kld load/link of the driver on RANDOM_LOADABLE
kernels. Address that issue as well.

If the headers of the packets are split into multiple segments of the
mbuf chain, the previous version of ena_tx_csum which was assuming,
that all segments will lay in the first mbuf, will eventually fail to
map the headers properties to meta descriptor.
That will cause Tx checksum offload to do not work and was leading to
memory corruption. It could even cause the crash of the system.

For alignment with Linux driver and better handling ena_detach(), the
reset is now calling ena_device_restore() and ena_device_destroy().
The ena_device_destroy() is also being called on ena_detach(), so the
code will be more readable.
The watchdog is now being activated after reset only, if it was active
before.
There were added additional checks to ensure, that there is no race with
the link state change AENQ handler.

As the ENA can have multiple states turned on/off, it is more convenient
to store them in single bitfield instead of multiple boolean variables.
The bitset FreeBSD API was used for the bitfield implementation, as it
provides flexible structure together with API which also supports atomic
bitfield operations.
For better readability basic macros from API were wrapped into custom
ENA_FLAG_* macros, which are filling up common parameters for all calls.

The new ENA HAL is introducing API, which can determine on Tx path if
the doorbell is needed.
That way, it can tell the driver, that it should call an doorbell.

LLQ (Low Latency Queue) is the feature, that allows pushing header
directly to the device through PCI before even DMA is triggered.
It reduces latency, because device can start preparing packet before
payload is sent through DMA.
To speed up sending data through PCI, the Write Combining is enabled,
which allows hardware to buffer data before sending them on the PCI - it
allows to reduce number of PCI IO operations.
ENAv2 is using special descriptor for the negotiation of the LLQ.
Currently, only the default configuration is supported.

Handle IO interrupts using filter routine. That way, the main cleanup
task could be moved to the separate thread using taskqueue.
The deferred Rx cleanup task was removed, and now the cleanup task is
begin called instead. That way, the Rx lock could be removed.
In addition, Queue management (wake up and stop TX ring) was added, so
the TX cleanup task can be performed mostly lockless.

In rare case, when the ifconfig is called just before kldunload, it is
possible, that ena_up routine will be called after queue locks are
released.
To prevent that, ifp is detached before the last ena_down is called and

Receive Side Scaling is optional feature that could be enabled in kernel
configuration by defining flag RSS.
Kernel uses hash to store and find protocol control block which is
stored in hash tables.
Kernel and NIC hash functions must be consistent. Otherwise case lookup
fails.
To achieve this kernel provides API to set proper hash key to NIC.
As it is not possible to change key for virtual ENA NIC, this driver
cannot support RSS function.
ENA is designed to work in virtual environments so supporting hardware
version of this card is unnecessary.

Notification AENQ handler is responsible for handling requests from ENA

Recent HAL change preparing to support ENAv2 required minor driver
modifications.
The ena_com_sq_empty_space() is not available in this ena-com, so it had
to be replaced with ena_com_free_desc().
Moreover, the ena_com_admin_init() is no longer using 3rd argument
indicating if the spin lock should be initialized, so it was removed.

Since drm2 removal, there has not been any consumer of the feature in the
tree. I am also unaware of any out-of-tree consumer.
More importantly, the feature has been broken from the very start, both
before and after r306589, because the ivar was set on a device that does
not support it and it was read from another device that also does not
support it.
A bus-wide no-stop flag cannot be implemented as an ivar as iicbus
attaches as a child of various drivers. Implementing the ivar in each
and every I2C driver is just impractical.
If we ever want to implement this feature properly, then probably the
easiest way to do it would be via a flag in the softc of iicbus.
In fact, we might have to do that in the stable branches if we want to
fix the code for them.

As I see, different NICs in different configurations may have different
numbers of TX and RX queues. The code was assuming 1:1 mapping between
event queues (interrupts) and TX/RX queues. Since number of interrupts
is set to maximum of TX and RX queues, when those two are different, the
system is doomed.
I have no documentation or deep knowledge about this hardware, so this
change is based on general observations and code reading. If some of my
guesses are wrong, please do better. I just confirmed HP NC550SFP NICs
are working now.

Prior to this revision, vtpci's BUS_READ_IVAR method on VIRTIO_IVAR_SUBVENDOR
accidentally returned the PCI subdevice.
The typo seems to have been introduced with the original commit adding
VIRTIO_IVAR_{{SUB,}DEVICE,{SUB,}VENDOR} to virtio_pci. The commit log and code
strongly suggest that the ivar was intended to return the subvendor rather than
the subdevice; it was likely just a copy/paste mistake.
Go ahead and rectify that.
- Perform ifp mismatch checks (to determine if a send tag is allocated
for a different ifp than the one the packet is being output on), in
ip_output() and ip6_output(). This avoids sending packets with send
tags to ifnet drivers that don't support send tags.
Since we are now checking for ifp mismatches before invoking
if_output, we can now try to allocate a new tag before invoking
if_output sending the original packet on the new tag if allocation
succeeds.
To avoid code duplication for the fragment and unfragmented cases,
add ip_output_send() and ip6_output_send() as wrappers around
if_output and nd6_output_ifp, respectively. All of the logic for
setting send tags and dealing with send tag-related errors is done
in these wrapper functions.
For pseudo interfaces that wrap other network interfaces (vlan and
lagg), wrapper send tags are now allocated so that ip*_output see
the wrapper ifp as the ifp in the send tag. The if_transmit
routines rewrite the send tags after performing an ifp mismatch
check. If an ifp mismatch is detected, the transmit routines fail
with EAGAIN.
- To provide clearer life cycle management of send tags, especially
in the presence of vlan and lagg wrapper tags, add a reference count
to send tags managed via m_snd_tag_ref() and m_snd_tag_rele().
Provide a helper function (m_snd_tag_init()) for use by drivers
supporting send tags. m_snd_tag_init() takes care of the if_ref
on the ifp meaning that code alloating send tags via if_snd_tag_alloc
no longer has to manage that manually. Similarly, m_snd_tag_rele
drops the refcount on the ifp after invoking if_snd_tag_free when
the last reference to a send tag is dropped.
This also closes use after free races if there are pending packets in
driver tx rings after the socket is closed (e.g. from tcpdrop).
In order for m_free to work reliably, add a new CSUM_SND_TAG flag in
csum_flags to indicate 'snd_tag' is set (rather than 'rcvif').
Drivers now also check this flag instead of checking snd_tag against
NULL. This avoids false positive matches when a forwarded packet
has a non-NULL rcvif that was treated as a send tag.
- cxgbe was relying on snd_tag_free being called when the inp was
detached so that it could kick the firmware to flush any pending
work on the flow. This is because the driver doesn't require ACK
messages from the firmware for every request, but instead does a
kind of manual interrupt coalescing by only setting a flag to
request a completion on a subset of requests. If all of the
in-flight requests don't have the flag when the tag is detached from
the inp, the flow might never return the credits. The current
snd_tag_free command issues a flush command to force the credits to
return. However, the credit return is what also frees the mbufs,
and since those mbufs now hold references on the tag, this meant
that snd_tag_free would never be called.
To fix, explicitly drop the mbuf's reference on the snd tag when the
mbuf is queued in the firmware work queue. This means that once the
inp's reference on the tag goes away and all in-flight mbufs have
been queued to the firmware, tag's refcount will drop to zero and
snd_tag_free will kick in and send the flush request. Note that we
need to avoid doing this in the middle of ethofld_tx(), so the
driver grabs a temporary reference on the tag around that loop to
defer the free to the end of the function in case it sends the last
mbuf to the queue after the inp has dropped its reference on the
tag.
- mlx5 preallocates send tags and was using the ifp pointer even when
the send tag wasn't in use. Explicitly use the ifp from other data
structures instead.
- Sprinkle some assertions in various places to assert that received
packets don't have a send tag, and that other places that overwrite
rcvif (e.g. 802.11 transmit) don't clobber a send tag pointer.

The point of r345008 was to reset the Command Reference Number (CRN)
in some situations where a device stayed in the topology, but had
changed somehow.
This can include moving from a switch connection to a direct
connection or vice versa, or a device that temporarily goes away
and comes back. (e.g. moving to a different switch port)
There were a couple of bugs in that change:
- We were reporting that a device had not changed whenever the
Establish Image Pair bit was not set. That is not quite correct.
Instead, if the Establish Image Pair bit stays the same (set or
not), the device hasn't changed in that way.
- We weren't setting PRLI Word0 in the port database when a new
device arrived, so comparisons with the old value for the
Establish Image Pair bit weren't really possible. So, make sure
PRLI Word0 is set in the port database for new devices.
- We were resetting the CRN whenever the Establish Image Pair bit
was set for a device, even when the device had stayed the same
and the value of the bit hadn't changed. Now, only reset the
CRN for devices that have changed, not devices that sayed the
same.
The result of all of this was that if we had a single FC device on
an FC port and it went away and came back, we would wind up
correctly resetting the CRN.
But, if we had multiple devices connected via a switch, and there
was any change in one or more of those devices, all of the devices
that stayed the same would also have their CRN values reset.
The result, from a user standpoint, is that the tape drives, etc.
would all start to time out commands and the initiator would send
aborts.
sys/dev/isp/isp.c:
In isp_pdb_add_update(), look at whether the Establish
Image Pair bit has changed as part of the check to
determine whether a device is still the same. This was
causing erroneous change notifications. Also, when
creating a new port database entry, initialize the
PRLI Word 0 values.
sys/dev/isp/isp_freebsd.c:
In isp_async(), in the changed/stayed case, instead of
looking at the Establish Image Pair bit to determine
whether to reset the CRN, look at the command value.
(Changed vs. Stayed.) Only reset the CRN for devices
that have changed.

Pull the responsibility for zeroing events, which is general to any
conceivable implementation of a random device algorithm, out of the
algorithm-specific Fortuna code and into the callers. Most callers
indirect through random_fortuna_process_event(), so add the logic there.
Most callers already explicitly bzeroed the events they provided, so the
logic in Fortuna was mostly redundant.
Add one missing bzero in randomdev_accumulate(). Also, remove a redundant
bzero in the same function -- randomdev_hash_finish() is obliged to bzero
the hash state.

This takes the SPCR code currently in uart_cpu_arm64.c, moves it into
a new uart_cpu_acpi.c (with some associated refactoring), and uses it
from both arm64 and x86.
An SPCR serial port address AccessWidth field value of 0 ("reserved")
is now treated as 1 ("byte access") in order to work around a buggy
SPCR table on Amazon EC2 i3.metal instances.

Many i2c slave drivers are in modules that can be unloaded. If they detach
while IO is in progress the bus would be hung forever. Conversely,
lower-layer drivers (iicbus and the hardware driver) also live in modules
and other kinds of bad things happen if they get detached while IO is in
progress. Because device_busy() propagates up to parents, marking the slave
device busy while it owns the bus solves both kinds of problems that come
with detaching i2c devices while IO is in progress.
It should be safer to flush controller and disk caches on the shutdown.
And to gracefully shut down the controller as well.
It seems that the Linux driver has been doing that for a long time.

Previously, if a system had multiple batteries, the remaining life
percentage was calculated as the average of each battery's percent
remaining. This results in rather incorrect values when you consider the
case of the Thinkpad X270 that has a small 3 cell internally battery, and
a hot-swappable 9 cell battery that is used first. Battery 0 is at 100%,
but battery 1 is at 10%, you do not infact have 55% of your capacity
remaining.
The new method calculates the percentage based on remaining capacity
out of total capacity, giving a much more accurate reading.

Similar to r348026, exhaustive search for uses of CTRn() and cross reference
ktr.h includes. Where it was obvious that an OS compat header of some kind
included ktr.h indirectly, .c files were left alone. Some of these files
clearly got ktr.h via header pollution in some scenarios, or tinderbox would
not be passing prior to this revision, but go ahead and explicitly include it
in files using it anyway.

Using the latest NVIDIA driver, upon resuming from suspend with X
running the display remained blank. Additionally OpenGL applications
that were running triggered a number of error messages from the NVIDIA
driver.
This occurred because the vt efifb back-end did not signal the X server
to release the display before suspending (or to re-acquire it after
resuming). The NVIDIA driver includes code for smoothly shutting down
and re-initializing the GPU, which was not getting called.
Since the NVIDIA driver doesn't currently support framebuffer devices
and vt is forced to fall back to the efifb back-end, add vd_suspend and
vd_resume members to connect the suspend/resume path. This ensures the
X server is properly able to re-initialize the display.

possible some of these are redundant with driver-specific headers in ways I
didn't notice.

all-ones then carving out blocks of zeroes where specified values go, init
it to all-zeroes, put in ones where values need to be masked, then use it
as value &= ~sc_led_modes_mask. In addition to being more idiomatic, this
means everything related to FDT data is initialized to zero along with the
rest of the softc, and that allows removing some #ifdef FDT sections and
wrapping the whole muge_set_leds() function in a single ifdef block.
This also deletes the early-out from muge_set_leds() when an eeprom exists.
Even if there is an eeprom with led config in it, the fdt data (if present)
should override that, because the user is in control of the fdt data.
OTP registers (because the user is in control of the fdt data). Remove the
early returns from the code that tries to find a good mac address, so that
the execution always flows through the routine to get an address from FDT
data last, when on FDT-enabled systems.

Summary:
PowerPC kernels are fully position independent, just like kernel modules.
The same fixups that are done for modules therefore need to be done to the
kernel, else symbol resolution in, e.g., DTrace, cannot resolve the kernel
symbols, so only addresses in the kernel are printed, while kernel module
symbols are printed.

Run lockstat on powerpc64. Note symbols are resolved for kernel and
modules.

This allows replacing "sys/eventfilter.h" includes with "sys/_eventfilter.h"
in other header files (e.g., sys/{bus,conf,cpu}.h) and reduces header
pollution substantially.
EVENTHANDLER_DECLARE and EVENTHANDLER_LIST_DECLAREs were moved out of .c
files into appropriate headers (e.g., sys/proc.h, powernv/opal.h).
As a side effect of reduced header pollution, many .c files and headers no
longer contain needed definitions. The remainder of the patch addresses
adding appropriate includes to fix those files.
LOCK_DEBUG and LOCK_FILE_LINE_ARG are moved to sys/_lock.h, as required by
sys/mutex.h since r326106 (but silently protected by header pollution prior
to this change).
No functional change (intended). Of course, any out of tree modules that
relied on header pollution for sys/eventhandler.h, sys/lock.h, or
sys/mutex.h inclusion need to be fixed. __FreeBSD_version has been bumped.
FDT data is sometimes used to configure usb devices which are hardwired into
an embedded system. Because the devices are instantiated by the usb
enumeration process rather than by ofwbus iterating through the fdt data, it
is somewhat difficult for a usb driver to locate fdt data that belongs to
it. In the past, various ad-hoc methods have been used, which can lead to
errors such applying configuration that should apply only to a hardwired
device onto a similar device attached by the user at runtime. For example,
if the user adds an ethernet device that uses the same driver as the builtin
ethernet, both devices might end up with the same MAC address.
These changes add a new usb_fdt_get_node() helper function that a driver can
use to locate FDT data that belongs to a single unique instance of the
device. This function locates the proper FDT data using the mechanism
detailed in the standard "usb-device.txt" binding document [1].
There is also a new usb_fdt_get_mac_addr() function, used to retrieve the
mac address for a given device instance from the fdt data. It uses
usb_fdt_get_node() to locate the right node in the FDT data, and attempts to
obtain the mac-address or local-mac-address property (in that order, the
same as linux does it).
The existing if_smsc driver is modified to use the new functions, both as an
example and for testing the new functions. Rpi and rpi2 boards use this
driver and provide the mac address via the fdt data.

(1) We may have had sufficient entropy to consider Fortuna seeded, but the
random_fortuna_seeded() function would produce a false negative if
fs_counter was still zero. This condition could arise after
random_harvestq_prime() processed the /boot/entropy file and before any
read-type operation invoked "pre_read()." Fortuna's fs_counter variable is
only incremented (if certain conditions are met) by reseeding, which is
invoked by random_fortuna_pre_read().
is_random_seeded(9) was introduced in r346282, but the function was unused
prior to r346358, which introduced this regression. The regression broke
initial seeding of arc4random(9) and broke periodic reseeding[A], until something
other than arc4random(9) invoked read_random(9) or read_random_uio(9) directly.
(Such as userspace getrandom(2) or read(2) of /dev/random. By default,
/etc/rc.d/random does this during multiuser start-up.)
(2) The conditions under which Fortuna will reseed (including initial seeding)
are: (a) sufficient "entropy" (by sheer byte count; default 64) is collected
in the zeroth pool (of 32 pools), and (b) it has been at least 100ms since
the last reseed (to prevent trivial DoS; part of FS&K design). Prior to
this revision, initial seeding might have been prevented if the reseed
function was invoked during the first 100ms of boot.
This revision addresses both of these issues. If random_fortuna_seeded()
observes a zero fs_counter, it invokes random_fortuna_pre_read() and checks
again. This addresses the problem where entropy actually was sufficient,
but nothing had attempted a read -> pre_read yet.
The second change is to disable the 100ms reseed guard when Fortuna has
never been seeded yet (fs_lasttime == 0). The guard is intended to prevent
gratuitous subsequent reseeds, not initial seeding!
Machines running CURRENT between r346358 and this revision are encouraged to
refresh when possible. Keys generated by userspace with /dev/random or
getrandom(9) during this timeframe are safe, but any long-term session keys
generated by kernel arc4random consumers are potentially suspect.
[A]: Broken in the sense that is_random_seeded(9) false negatives would cause
arc4random(9) to (re-)seed with weak entropy (SHA256(cyclecount ||
FreeBSD_version)).

Instead of precalculating the different speed, respect the bus frequency
and calculate the clock register parameter based on it.
If the platform didn't register the core clk, fallback on the precomputed
values (This is likely do be the case on Marvell boards).

When the module is unloaded, the tty devices are destroyed. That requires
implementing the tsw_free callback to avoid a panic. This driver requires
no particular cleanup to be done from the callback, but the module itself
must remain in memory until the deferred tsw_free callbacks are invoked.
These changes implement that by incrementing a reference count variable in
the detach routine, and decrementing it in the tsw_free callback. The
MOD_UNLOAD event handler doesn't return until the count drops to zero.

Grab device reserved physical memory regions from FDT using standard
"memory-region" property and use vmem(9) to allocate buffers from it.
The same vmem could be used by DMA engine drivers to allocate memory for
DMA descriptors.
This is required for platforms that provide uncached memory region
reserved exclusively for DMA operations.
o Change sleepable sx(9) lock type to non-sleepable mutex(9) since
network drivers usually hold mutex during DMA operations. So we don't
take sleepable lock after non-sleepable.

Mjg@ reports that RDSEED (r347239) causes a lot of logspam from this printf,
and I don't feel that it is especially useful (even ratelimited). There are
many other quality/quantity checks we're not performing on entropy sources;
lack of high frequency availability does not disqualify a good entropy
source.
There is some discussion in the linked Differential about what logging might
be appropriate and/or polling policy for slower TRNG sources. Please feel

Present code uses lock-less accesses to the dump data to prevent top
level ioctls from blocking bottom-level call to dump. Unfortunately, this
depends on the type stability of the dump data structure, which makes it
non-functional during driver teardown.
Switch to the mutex locking scheme where top levels use the mutex in the
bound regions, while copyouts and drain for completion utilize condvars.
The mutex lifetime is guaranteed to be strictly larger than the time
interval where driver can initiate dump, and most of the control fields
of the old struct mlx5_dump_data are directly embedded into struct
mlx5_core_dev.

CM layer calls ib_modify_port() regardless of the link layer.
For the Ethernet ports, qkey violation and Port capabilities

If generation is cleared due to hardware clock failure, check for it before
the divisor is used. Actually clear generation when failure occurs.
While there, stop doing the calculations inside the generation loop. Since
all members of mlx5e_clbr_point are used for calculations, get the
local copy of the structure and use it after generation stabilized.

The current mapping of driver counters to netstat counters is wrong.
For example, a single jabber packet, will cause the Ierrs counter to
count three times.
The work for mapping the hardware and software counters to their right
place in netstat counters were already done in Linux, take that as is
to the FreeBSD driver.

This change introduces the enhanced version of the "Force teardown" that

When using CQE zipping, one can choose between RX hash and Checksum.
This will indicate the parameter on which a zipping session should be
stopped.
While porting the Linux code, Checksum was chosen. However, the value
of Checksum is not being used anywhere.
For the FreeBSD driver, we prefer to use the RX hash format which will
guarantee the RX hash value for all the mini CQEs.
While at it, make sure to initialize the Checksum value in the
decompressed CQE.

Instead of reading Ethernet RFC 2819 pXtoYoctets counters from
hardware which counts RX octets, count tx_stat_pXtoYoctets from
Ethernet extended counters which counts TX octets.

Avoid an infinite software firmware reset loop that may be caused by a
hardware bug by limiting the maximum number of resets.
The counter between resets is reset by request for reset, and not by a
successful reset.
The interval between two resets can be configured via sysctl:
hw.mlx5.sw_reset_timeout
which is global to all mlx5 devices in the system.

While at it remove unused interface state bits. This also fixes and issue
during shutdown:
There is an issue where the firmware fails during mlx5_load_one,
the health_care timer detects the issue and schedules a health_care call.
Then the mlx5_load_one detects the issue, cleans up and quits. Then
the health_care starts and calls mlx5_unload_one to clean up the resources
that no longer exist and causes kernel panic.
The root cause is that the bit MLX5_INTERFACE_STATE_DOWN is not set
after mlx5_load_one fails. The solution is removing the bit
MLX5_INTERFACE_STATE_DOWN and quit mlx5_unload_one if the
bit MLX5_INTERFACE_STATE_UP is not set. The bit MLX5_INTERFACE_STATE_DOWN
is redundant and we can use MLX5_INTERFACE_STATE_UP instead.

Checksum offloading for SCTP is not currently specified for virtio.
If the hypervisor announces checksum offloading support, it means TCP
and UDP checksum offload. If an SCTP packet is sent and the host announced
checksum offload support, the hypervisor inserts the IP checksum (16-bit)
at the correct offset, but this is not the right checksum, which is a CRC32c.
This results in all outgoing packets having the wrong checksum and therefore
breaking SCTP based communications.
This patch removes SCTP checksum offloading support from the virtio
network interface.

times - on every interrupt by using an own set of device methods for the
IGB class. This translates to introducing igb_if_intr_{disable,enable}()
and igb_if_{rx,tx}_queue_intr_enable() with that IGB-specific code moved
out of their EM counterparts and otherwise continuing to use the EM IFDI
methods also for IGB.
Note that igb_if_intr_{disable,enable}() also issue E1000_WRITE_FLUSH as
lost with the conversion of igb(4) to iflib(4).
Also note, that the em_if_{disable,enable}_intr() methods are renamed to
em_if_intr_{disable,enable}() for consistency with the names used in the
interface declaration.
o In em_intr():
- Don't bother to bail out if the interrupt type is "legacy", i. e. INTx
or MSI, as iflib(4) doesn't use ift_legacy_intr methods for MSI-X. All
other iflib(4)-based drivers avoid this check, too.
- Given that only the MSI-X interrupts have one-shot behavior (by taking
advantage of the EIAC register), explicitly disable interrupts. Hence,
em_intr() now matches what {em,igb}_irq_fast() previously did (in case
of igb(4) supposedly also to work around MSI message reordering errata
on certain systems).
o In em_if_intr_disable():
- Clear the EIAC register unconditionally for 82574 and not just in case
of MSI-X, matching em_if_intr_enable() and bringing back the last hunk
of r206437 lost with the iflib(4) conversion.
- Write to EM_EIAC for clearing said register instead of to the IGB-only
E1000_EIAC used ever since the iflib(4) conversion.

Allow users to specify multiple dump configurations in a prioritized list.
This enables fallback to secondary device(s) if primary dump fails. E.g.,
one might configure a preference for netdump, but fallback to disk dump as a
second choice if netdump is unavailable.
This change does not list-ify netdump configuration, which is tracked
separately from ordinary disk dumps internally; only one netdump
configuration can be made at a time, for now. It also does not implement
IPv6 netdump.
savecore(8) is already capable of scanning and iterating multiple devices
from /etc/fstab or passed on the command line.
This change doesn't update the rc or loader variables 'dumpdev' in any way;
it can still be set to configure a single dump device, and rc.d/savecore
still uses it as a single device. Only dumpon(8) is updated to be able to
configure the more complicated configurations for now.
As part of revving the ABI, unify netdump and disk dump configuration ioctl
/ structure, and leave room for ipv6 netdump as a future possibility.
Backwards-compatibility ioctls are added to smooth ABI transition,
especially for developers who may not keep kernel and userspace perfectly
synced.

Right now ath_rate_sample has a fixed rate schedule, rather than the minstrel_ht
style "best, good, most reliable" triplet. So, if higher rates are tried then
it'll not fail back to a lower MCS rate in that transmission schedule.
This means that in low SNR situations it'll not easily drop to MCS0 unless enough
transmissions occur to allow rate control to eventually decide to drop; and if
it's TCP traffic it'll get slowed down because of packet loss.
It's worse for 2-stream and 3-stream rates; it doesn't ever fall back to lower
stream rates, and these higher stream rates required higher SNR to work.
So instead let's (for now?) have each of the 11n transmit rates use MCS0 as
the last attempt. ath_rate_sample will quickly see that rate succeeds more
and will move to it much quicker.
Testing:
* AR9344 (Wasp) - 2G STA mode
These are some fun issues I've found with my upstairs wifi link at such a ridiculous
low signal level (like, < 5dB.)
* Add per-station tx/rx rssi statistics, in potential preparation to use that
in the RX rate control.
* Call the rate control on each received frame to let it potentially use
it as a hint for what rates to potentially use. It's a no-op right now.
* Do ANI calibration during scan as well. The ath_newstate() call was disabling the
ANI timer and only re-enabling it during transitions to _RUN. This has the
unfortunate side-effect that if ANI deafened the NIC because of interference
and it disassociated, it wouldn't be reset and the scan would never hear beacons.
The ANI configuration is stored at least globally on some HALs and per-channel
on others. Because of this a NIC reset wouldn't help; the ANI parameters would
simply be programmed back in.
Now, I have a feeling I also need to do this during AUTH/ASSOC too and maybe,
if I'm feeling clever, I need to reset the ANI parameters on a given channel
during a transition through INIT or if the VAP is destroyed/re-created.
However for now this gets me out of the immediate weeds with connectivity
upstairs (and thus I /can/ commit); I'll keep chipping away at tidying this
stuff up in subsequent commits.
Tested:
* AR9344 (Wasp), 2G STA mode
so it does not require a bounce buffer. The only need for this was
to align the buffer address. Implement unaligned access and we don't
need to copy data twice.
o Remove contigmalloc-based bounce buffer from xDMA code since it is
not suitable for arbitrary memory provided by platform, which is
sometimes a dedicated piece of memory that is not managed by OS at all.

Drivers can now pass up numa domain information via the
mbuf numa domain field. This information is then used
by TCP syncache_socket() to associate that information
with the inpcb. The domain information is then fed back
into transmitted mbufs in ip{6}_output(). This mechanism
is nearly identical to what is done to track RSS hash values
in the inp_flowid.
Follow on changes will use this information for lacp egress
port selection, binding TCP pacers to the appropriate NUMA
domain, etc.

"The mcbin (and likely others) have a nonstandard uart clock. This means
that the earlycon programming will incorrectly set the baud rate if it is
specified. The way around this is to tell the kernel to continue using the
preprogrammed baud rate. This is done by setting the baud to 0."
Our drivers (uart_dev_ns8250) do respect zero, but SPCR would error. Let's
not error.

To workaround limitations in the crypto engine, empty buffers are
handled by manually constructing the final length block as the payload
passed to the crypto engine and disabling the normal "final" handling.
For HMAC this length block should hold the length of a single block
since the hash is actually the hash of the IPAD digest, but for
"plain" SHA the length should be zero instead.

This commit adds new if_alloc_domain() and if_alloc_dev() methods to
allocate ifnets. When called with a domain on a NUMA machine,
ifalloc_domain() will record the NUMA domain in the ifnet, and it will
allocate the ifnet struct from memory which is local to that NUMA
node. Similarly, if_alloc_dev() is a wrapper for if_alloc_domain
which uses a driver supplied device_t to call ifalloc_domain() with
the appropriate domain.
Note that the new if_numa_domain field fits in an alignment pad in
struct ifnet, and so does not alter the size of the structure.

One of the fun issues with scanning has been how the existing
ANI values were programmed into the hardware when channels were
changed. If you're on a really crappy channel and ANI has made
you deaf then when you scan you continue to be deaf on all channels.
This code passes in a flag to startpcureceive which in AR5416 and later
is also used to enable ANI. This allows it to know if it's a normal
operation or a scan operation.
This fixes my situation at home where a temporary spot of a device
going deaf due to interference starts scanning and .. can't hear
anything until I restart.
Now, this isn't the full fix - ideally:
(a) all the ANI config and per-channel information would be migrated
to the shared HAL stuff and enabled for all of the NICs;
(b) when a station reassociates and some other error conditions
(like missed beacons, NF calibration failures, etc) a knob
to reset ANI parameters would likely help recovery.
But hey, I'm committing bits of code again! woo!

As discussed in that commit message, it is a dangerous default. But the
safe default causes enough pain on a variety of platforms that for now,
restore the prior default.
Some of this is self-induced pain we should/could do better about; for
example, programmatic CI systems and VM managers should introduce entropy
from the host for individual VM instances. This is considered a future work
item.
On modern x86 and Power9 systems, this may be wholly unnecessary after
D19928 lands (even in the non-ideal case where early /boot/entropy is
unavailable), because they have fast hardware random sources available early
in boot. But D19928 is not yet landed and we have a host of architectures
which do not provide fast random sources.
This change adds several tunables and diagnostic sysctls, documented
thoroughly in UPDATING and sys/dev/random/random_infra.c.

The imagined use is for early boot consumers of random to be able to make

read_random() is/was used, mostly without error checking, in a lot of
very sensitive places in the kernel -- including seeding the widely used
arc4random(9).
Most uses, especially arc4random(9), should block until the device is seeded
rather than proceeding with a bogus or empty seed. I did not spy any
obvious kernel consumers where blocking would be inappropriate (in the
sense that lack of entropy would be ok -- I did not investigate locking
angle thoroughly). In many instances, arc4random_buf(9) or that family
of APIs would be more appropriate anyway; that work was done in r345865.
A minor cleanup was made to the implementation of the READ_RANDOM function:
instead of using a variable-length array on the stack to temporarily store
all full random blocks sufficient to satisfy the requested 'len', only store
a single block on the stack. This has some benefit in terms of reducing
stack usage, reducing memcpy overhead and reducing devrandom output leakage
via the stack. Additionally, the stack block is now safely zeroed if it was
used.
One caveat of this change is that the kern.arandom sysctl no longer returns
zero bytes immediately if the random device is not seeded. This means that
FreeBSD-specific userspace applications which attempted to handle an
unseeded random device may be broken by this change. If such behavior is
needed, it can be replaced by the more portable getrandom(2) GRND_NONBLOCK
option.
On any typical FreeBSD system, entropy is persisted on read/write media and
used to seed the random device very early in boot, and blocking is never a
problem.
This change primarily impacts the behavior of /dev/random on embedded
systems with read-only media that do not configure "nodevice random". We
toggle the default from 'charge on blindly with no entropy' to 'block
indefinitely.' This default is safer, but may cause frustration. Embedded
system designers using FreeBSD have several options. The most obvious is to
plan to have a small writable NVRAM or NAND to persist entropy, like larger
systems. Early entropy can be fed from any loader, or by writing directly
to /dev/random during boot. Some embedded SoCs now provide a fast hardware
entropy source; this would also work for quickly seeding Fortuna. A 3rd
option would be creating an embedded-specific, more simplistic random
module, like that designed by DJB in [1] (this design still requires a small
rewritable media for forward secrecy). Finally, the least preferred option
might be "nodevice random", although I plan to remove this in a subsequent
revision.
To help developers emulate the behavior of these embedded systems on
ordinary workstations, the tunable kern.random.block_seeded_status was
added. When set to 1, it blocks the random device.
I attempted to document this change in random.4 and random.9 and ran into a
bunch of out-of-date or irrelevant or inaccurate content and ended up
rototilling those documents more than I intended to. Sorry. I think
they're in a better state now.

This allows efficient filtering at packet ingress on mlx5en.
Note that the packets are filtered (and potentially dropped) *before*
the driver has committed to (re)allocating an mbuf for the
packet. Dropped packets are treated essentially the same as an
error. Nothing is allocated, and the existing buffer is recycled. This
allows us to drop malicious packets at close to line rate with very
little CPU use.

The SPCR table on the Lenovo HR330A Ampere eMAG server indicates 8-bit
access, but 32-bit access is required for the PL011 to work.
PL011 on SBSA platforms always supports 32-bit access (and that was
hardcoded here before my EC2 fix), let's use 32-bit access for PL011
and 32BIT interface types.

SDIO command CMD53 (IO_RW_EXTENDED) allows data transfers using blocks of 1-2048 bytes,
with a maximum of 511 blocks per request.
Extend mmc_data structure to properly describe such requests,
and initialize the new fields in kernel and userland consumers.
No actual driver changes happen yet, these will follow in the separate changes.

While it is true that the ACPI spec says that the flag is only valid
on Extended Address Space Descriptors, examples of other descriptors
in the spec use the ProducerConsumer flag explicitly, and real
hardware uses it as well. In fact, even in the ASL of the Thunder X2
for which r330113 was a workaround, some devices use this flag on
non-Extended Address Space Descriptors correctly. Instead, only
ignore the flag for resources associated with the UART devices on the
Thunder X2 using the "ARMH0011" HID to identify these devices.
This should fix regressions from ignoring this flag in other contexts
such as Hyper-V.

CPUs can use shared (RF_SHAREABLE) resources for the I/O port used for
entering and exiting C states. If this I/O port is included in an ACPI
system resource device, then this happens to still work, but if the port
wasn't part of a system resource device, only the first CPU could allocate
the I/O port and use C states since resource_list_reserve() was always
allocating the resource from nexus0 without RF_SHAREABLE. By avoiding
the reservation, the flags from the bus_alloc_resource() in the CPU driver
(which include RF_SHAREABLE) are honored.

RTL8152 USB ethernet is used in NanoPI R1 board as second ethernet.
This fixes for me RTL8152 USB ethernet not detected problem after
reboot on NanoPI R1 board.
Both NetBSD and OpenBSD have a wrong value so far.
For PCI device (i.e. child of a PCI bus), reset tries FLR if
implemented and worked, and falls to power reset otherwise.
For PCIe bus (child of a PCIe bridge or root port), reset
disables PCIe link and then re-trains it, performing what is known as
link-level reset.

Add the ability to use interrupts for i2c message.
We still use polling for early boot i2c transfer (for PMIC
for example) but as soon as interrupts are available use them.
On Allwinner SoC >A20 is seems that polling mode is broken for some
reason, this is now fixed by using interrupt mode.
For Allwinner also fix the frequency calculation, the one in the code
was for when the APB frequency is at 48Mhz while it is at 24Mhz on most
(all?) Allwinner SoCs. We now support both cases.
While here add more debug info when it's compiled in.

In r337703 DTS files were updated to Linux 4.18, including Linux commit
4d8b032d3c03f4e9788a18bbb51b10e6c9e8a56b which removed the `phy_id`
property from am335x-bone-common (as the property was deprecated).
Use `phy-handle` via fdt_get_phyaddr, keeping the existing code as a
fallback for old DTBs.

interrupt enable are not fatal.
The firmware sets up all the interrupt enables based on run time
configuration, which means the information in the enables is more
accurate than what's compiled into the driver. This change also allows
the fatal bits to be updated without any changes in the driver in some
cases.

I/O operations already in its queue were not being properly drained.
The GEOM framework does the queue draining, but the device driver
needs to wait for the draining to happen. The waiting is done by
adding a g_md_providergone() function to wait for the I/O operations
to finish up.
It is likely that every GEOM provider that implements orphaning
attached GEOM consumers needs to use the "providergone" mechanism
for this same reason, but some of them do not do so. Apparently
Kenneth Merry (ken@) added the drain for just such races, but he
missed adding it to some of the device drivers that needed it.

TPM has a built-in RNG, with its own entropy source.
The driver was extended to harvest 16 random bytes from TPM every 10 seconds.
A new build option "TPM_HARVEST" was introduced - for now, however, it
is not enabled by default in the GENERIC config.

In the latest Linux kernel revisions the DSA (Distributed
Switch Architecture) device tree binding was changed.
Instead of the top level dsa@ node, the switch and its
ports is represented as a child node of the mdio bus.
With that other modifications were added, such as
relation with the ethernet port of the SoC. Adjust
e6000sw etherswitch and mvneta drivers to that.
Tested on Armada 3720 EspressoBin and Armada 388 Clearfog Pro boards.

PIIX4_SMBHSTSTAT_ERR can be set for several reasons that, unfortunately,
cannot be distinguished, but the most typical case is a missing or hung
slave (SMB_ENOACK).
PIIX4_SMBHSTSTAT_FAIL means failed or killed / aborted transaction, so
it's previous mapping to SMB_ENOACK was not ideal.
After this change an smb(4) access to a missing slave results in ENXIO
rather than EIO. To me, that seems to be more appropriate.

This value was being used uninitialized, resulting in predictable issues
on systems with memory-mapped UART registers.
A case could be made that memmap_bus should be declared in a header
rather than being declared in each .c file which needs to refer to it,
but that's a broader style question.

iflib_fl_setup calculates a suitable buffer size for the Rx mbufs based
on the isc_max_frame_size value that drivers setup. This calculation is
repeated by drivers when programming their hardware with the size of
each Rx buffer.
This can lead to a mismatch where the iflib mbuf size is different from
the expected size of the buffer as programmed by the hardware. This can
lead to unexpected results.
If iflib ever wants to support mbuf sizes larger than one page, every
driver must be updated to account for the new possible buffer sizes.
Fix this by calculating the mbuf size prior to calling IFDI_INIT, and
adding the iflib_get_rx_mbuf_sz function which will expose this value to
drivers, so that they do not repeat the same calculation.

Minimalistic PSCI implementation in U-Boot doesn't implement get_version()

Some applications forward from/to host rings most or all the
traffic received or sent on a physical interface. In this
cases it is desirable to have more than a pair of RX/TX host
rings, and use multiple threads to speed up forwarding.
This change adds support for multiple host rings. On registering
a netmap port, the user can specify the number of desired receive
and transmit host rings in the nr_host_tx_rings and nr_host_rx_rings
fields of the nmreq_register structure.

The forthcoming microcode update will fix a TSX bug by clobbering PMC3
when TSX instructions are executed (even speculatively). There is an
alternate mode where CPU executes all TSX instructions by aborting
them, in which case PMC3 is still available to OS. Any code that
correctly uses TSX must be ready to handle abort anyway.
Since it is believed that FreeBSD population of hwpmc(4) users is
significantly larger than the population of TSX users, switch the
microcode into TSX abort mode whenever a pmc is allocated, and back to
bug avoidance mode when the last pmc is deallocated.

writes are running. Some of the cases which are not handled properly in driver are:
1. With R1 fastpath supported, single write from CAM layer can consume 2 MPT frames
at driver/firmware level for fastpath qualification(if fw_outstanding < controller Queue Depth).
Due to this driver has to throttle IOs coming from CAM layer as well as second fastpath
write(of R1 write) against Adapter Queue Depth.
If "fw_outstanding" reaches to adapter queue depth, driver should return IOs from CAM layer with
device busy status.While allocating second MPT frame(corresponding to R1 FP write) also, driver
should ensure fw_outstanding should not exceed adapter QD.
2. For R1 fastpath writes completion, driver decrements "fw_oustanding" counter without
really returning MPT frame to free pool. It may cause IOs(with heavy IOs running, consuming whole
adapter Queue Depth) consuming MPT frames reserved for DCMDs(management commands) and
DCMDs(internal and sent by application) not getting MPT frame will start failing.
Below is one test case to hit the issue described above-
1. Run heavy IOs (outstanding IOs should hit adapter Queue Depth).
2. Run management tool (Broadcom's storcli tool) querying adapter in loop (run command- "storcli64 /c0 show" in loop).
3. Management tool's requests would start failing due to non-availability of free MPT frames as all frames would be consumed by IOs.
Fix: Increment/decrement of "fw_outstanding" counter should be in sync with MPT frame get/return.

The ESGL bit was left uninitialized when executing the REPORT LUNS
ioctl. This could allow a zeroed data buffer to be treated as a
scatter/gather list. The firmware would eventually walk past the end
of the data buffer, potentially find what looked like a valid
address/length pair, and write the result to semi-random memory.

The Command Reference Number (CRN) is part of the FC-Tape features
that we enable when talking to tape drives. It starts at 1, and
goes to 255 and wraps around to 1. There are a number of reset
type conditions that result in the CRN getting reset to 1. These
are detailed in section 4.10 (table 8) of the FCP-4r02b specification.
One of the conditions is when a PRLI (Process Login) is sent by
the initiator, and the Establish Image Pair bit is set in Word 0
of the PRLI.
Previously, the isp(4) driver core sent a notification via
isp_async() that the target had changed or stayed in place, but
there was no indication of whether a PRLI was sent and whether the
Establish Image Pair bit was set.
The result of this was that in some situations, notably
switching back and forth between a direct connection and a switch
connection to a tape drive, the isp(4) driver would fail to reset
the CRN in situations that require it according to the spec. When
the CRN isn't reset in a situation that requires it, the tape drive
then rejects every subsequent command that is sent to the drive.
It is assuming that the commands are being sent out of order.
So, modify the isp(4) driver to include Word 0 of the PRLI command
when it sends isp_async() notifications of target changes. Look at
the Establish Image Pair bit, and reset the CRN if that bit is set.
With this change, I am able to switch a tape drive back and forth
between a direct connection and a switch connection, and the isp(4)
driver resets the CRN when it should.

trying to use disk_add_alias() to make spi* an alias for mx25l*. It turns
out disk_add_alias() works for partitions, but not slices, and that's hard
to fix.
This change is, in effect, a partial revert of r344526.
The mips world relies on the existence of flashmap names formatted as
/dev/flash/spi0s.name, whereas pretty much nothing relies on at45d devices
using the /dev/spi* names (because until recently the at45d driver didn't
even work reliably). So this change makes mx25l devices the sole owner of
the /dev/flash/spi* namespace, which actually makes some sense because it is
a SpiFlash(tm) device, so flash/spi isn't a horrible name.

When resetting the controller, we abort I/O. Prior to this fix, we
printed a ton of abort messages for I/O that we're going to
retry. This imparts no useful information. Stop printing them unless
our retry count is exhausted. Clarify code for when we don't retry,
and remove useless arg to a routine that's always called with it
as 'true'. All the other debug is still printed (including multiple
reset messages if we have multiple timeouts before the taskqueue
runs the actual reset) so that we know when we reset.

Chacha20 with a 256 bit key and 128 bit counter size is a good match for an
AES256-ICM replacement.
In userspace, Chacha20 is typically marginally slower than AES-ICM on
machines with AESNI intrinsics, but typically much faster than AES on
machines without special intrinsics. ChaCha20 does well on typical modern
architectures with SIMD instructions, which includes most types of machines
FreeBSD runs on.
In the kernel, we can't (or don't) make use of AESNI intrinsics for
random(4) anyway. So even on amd64, using Chacha provides a modest
performance improvement in random device throughput today.
This change makes the stream cipher used by random(4) configurable at boot
time with the 'kern.random.use_chacha20_cipher' tunable.
Very rough, non-scientific measurements at the /dev/random device, on a
GENERIC-NODEBUG amd64 VM with 'pv', show a factor of 2.2x higher throughput
for Chacha20 over the existing AES-ICM mode.

* The ani function bitmap was being badly used when determining if a command
could be used. In hostap modes only a couple of the ANI control parameters
are enabled.
* The ani function bitmap was not being reset to HAL_ANI_ALL if transitioning
from AP -> STA.
* Change mrcCckOff to mrcCck - 1 == on, rather than 1 == off. This matches
the API used to set the value from userland via the diagnostic API.

These will only come from userland and it will go and program the rest of
the ANI control parameters with the values in the ANI table.
* Ensure all of the ANI parameters can be tweaked at runtime, even if they're
disabled.

"The iflib_fl_setup() function tries to pick various buffer sizes based
on the max_frame_size value defined by the parent driver. However, this
code was wrapped under CONTIGMALLOC_WORKS, which was never actually
defined anywhere.
This same code pattern was used in if_em.c, likely trying to match
what iflib uses.
Since CONTIGMALLOC_WORKS is not defined, remove this dead code from
iflib_fl_setup and if_em.c
Given that various iflib drivers appear to be using a similar
calculation, it might be worth making this buffer size a value that the
driver can peek at in the future."

I'm trying to debug why reception upstairs here is so terrible and it
turns out ANI is buggy. (Which is no surprise, ANI is always buggy.)
Tested:
* Carambola2 (AR9331), STA/AP modes
- Fix data frames transmission via POWER_STATUS register setup -
it seems to be set by MACID_CONFIG firmware command, which was broken*
in r290439 and later disabled in r307529.
We can re-enable it later if / when firmware rate adaptation will be
ready; however, this step will be required anyway - for firmware-less
builds.
- Force RTS / CTS protection frame rate to CCK1 (this rate works fine
without any additional setup; no better workaround is known yet).
The problem was not observed on the channel 1 or with CCK1 rate enforced
('ifconfig wlan0 ucastrate 1' for 11 b/g; not possible for 11n networks
due to ifconfig(8) bug).
* I'm not sure if it works before r290439 because - AFAIR - I never seen
firmware rate adaptation working for 10-STABLE urtwn(4)
(It needs EN_BCN bit set and RSSI updates at least).
Tested with RTL8188CUS in STA mode
(in regular mode and with disabled MRR - DARFRC*8 is set to 0)
